  • Huge, once-hated fish now seen as weapon against Asian carp

It's a toothy giant that can grow longer than a horse and heavier than a refrigerator, a fearsome-looking prehistoric fish that plied U.S. waters from the Gulf of Mexico to Illinois until it disappeared from many states a half-century ago. Persecuted by anglers and deprived of places to spawn, the alligator gar - with a head that resembles an alligator and two rows of needlelike teeth - survived primarily in southern states in the tributaries of the Mississippi River and Gulf of Mexico after being declared extinct in several states farther north. To many, it was a freak, a "trash fish" that threatened sportfish, something to be exterminated.

  • What A Wife Says It Was Like To Find Out Her Husband Of 23 Years Had A Girlfriend

Dave says it kills him to know that he hurt his wife, but he has no regrets about the affair. “She just filled the void in my life that I’ve always wanted and my wife didn’t fill,” he explains. “The sex with a new girl was more than I ever thought could happen in life. It was the greatest.” He admits that he kept both women in his life as he struggled to pick between them. “I was flip-flopping,” says Dave. “I was like Tarzan swinging from one vine to the other.” Turning to Dr. Phil for help, he says, “I do love Stacey. Sometimes, I wonder if we’re hanging on to something that is just hopeless.” Should this couple reconcile or could there be too much distrust and pain to move forward together?

  • Archaeologists make surprise find under Mayan temple

(NEWSER) - When researchers grew concerned about underground anomalies detected near the Mayan ruins of Palenque in Mexico, they began a dig to figure out whether the pyramid was in danger of collapse. This week, researchers announced that what they found was no anomaly but rather a small canal system, reports the AP. They now think the tomb of the ancient ruler Pakal was built atop a natural spring about 700 AD, with tunnels that directed water to the esplanade in front of the temple in the hope of giving Pakal's spirit a way into the underworld. In fact, an engraving at the site reads that the dead gain entrance to the underworld in such a manner via the god Chaac, who will "will guide the

  • If This Is Cara Delevingne's Engagement Ring, She's 1 Very Lucky Girl

Right after Jared Leto posted a shot of Cara Delevingne on Instagram, in which a sparkly diamond ring was front and center, the engagement speculation began. Worn on the Suicide Squad actress's left hand, and much brighter than your average jewel, it definitely fits the bill. While Cara and her girlfriend St. Vincent have been in a public relationship for over a year, they're not ones to put their relationship in the spotlight. With friends, however, they certainly celebrate their love (as shown by a "Happy Annievercarry!" sign in Taylor Swift's recent snap). Whether the couple will soon share the news of an upcoming wedding is TBD. For now, we'll just reminisce about their coordinated style

  • NASA’s new space plane is getting ready to take flight

NASA’s next cargo delivery vehicle-a spunky little space plane that looks like it could be an offspring of the space shuttle-is getting ready to fly. The svelte and snub nosed Dream Chaser will soon be shipped to the Mojave desert in California where it would begin a series of ground tests that would eventually culminate with a flight from an altitude of 2.5 miles high. To get to this point, however, has been a long road for its manufacturer, the Sierra Nevada Corp. The company had originally pursued a NASA contract to fly astronauts to the International Space Station. NASA engineers in Hampton, Va., used a wind tunnel to evaluate the design of Sierra Nevada Corporation's Dream Chaser spacecraft.

  • Trump Could Win Pennsylvania, May Not Debate, Rendell Says

Former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell said Thursday he’s skeptical that Republican Donald Trump will take part in the three debates against Democrat Hillary Clinton scheduled for this fall. “He not only doesn’t put any meat on the bones, I think if you asked him for specifics he couldn’t tell you, and that’s why I think he may duck the debates,” Rendell, a Democrat, said at a Bloomberg breakfast in Philadelphia during his party’s national convention. Trump could upend the pattern of the last six presidential elections and win Pennsylvania thanks to a “simple” message that appeals to angry and unemployed voters, Rendell said. The most recent Republican to win in Pennsylvania was George H.W. Bush in 1988; Barack Obama won the state in 2012 by over 5 percentage points.

  • Why Stephen Hawking thinks the Brexit vote could threaten humanity

"Envy and isolationism" were the forces that contributed to the U.K.'s decision to leave the European Union and if those forces grow stronger, the human race is at risk, according to world-renowned physicist Stephen Hawking. Hawking had been a part of the remain camp in the lead up to the referendum, saying that it would be a mistake for Britain to leave the union.
