Drew Barrymore just opened up about her mental and physical fitness journey after struggling to get in shape after having kids. Calling her body a “rollercoaster,” the 45-year-old shared the ins and outs of her journey on Instagram, adding that celebrities get a ton of help with their fitness, and warning that there’s no such thing as “bouncing back.”

“Don’t be fooled by what you see when people are thin right after baby,” she writes. “Don’t compare yourself to the magazines and the red carpets. If I looked decent on anything I have done since I had my two kids, I have clawed my way there. You can too! However, it is hard to sustain and can take a lot of the joy out of life with food.”

Drew credits her personal trainer, “longtime teacher, and dear important friend” Marnie Alton with guiding her wellness journey.

“She has helped me. Healed me. Encouraged me to keep going when I felt like being strong was an insurmountable task,” Drew writes. “We have known each other for about 15 years and when I told her I wanted to transform my body for #SantaClaritaDiet she helped me. Every spring, when I would start training to become #ShailaHammond Marnie was the one who got me there. I lost 20 pounds and trained like a mother.”

She also revealed in June 2019 that she got a little help from EmSculpt, a non-invasive procedure that stimulates your abdominal muscles with electromagnetic pulses to force muscular contractions. Basically, it’s the equivalent of doing 20,000 crunches in 30 minutes. “Everyone is different, and I have the genetic makeup of the Pillsbury Doughboy," she joked. "I have to fight so hard to be in shape or be in a smaller size or lower weight, and people don't talk about the fact that when you have kids, everything goes out but it doesn't always come back in. You never get your 'old' body back, you're working with a new body."

As for her diet, Drew depends on advice and products from dietician Kimberly Snyder, who she calls “a woman I have trusted for many, many years with nutrition.” Referencing Snyder’s New York Times best-selling book Recipes for Your Perfectly Imperfect Life: Everyday Ways to Live and Eat for Health, Healing, and Happiness, Drew says that Snyder is her guru. The book serves as a guide to help people feel good, eat well, and dispel insecurities.

Drew also uses Snyder’s Solluna Feel Good Detoxy supplement, saying “her supplements have changed my life. She has changed my life.” The supplement is a colon cleanse and natural detoxifier for the relief of constipation, gas, and bloating and the safe removal of toxins. The supplement uses magnesium oxide to transport oxygen throughout the entire body with the gentle effect of loosening toxins and acidic waste in your GI tract.

Other supplements from the Solluna line include a probiotic supplement ($49) to restore gut bacteria and improve digestion, and a digestive enzyme ($35) for the relief of gas and bloating.

Drew isn’t the only celebrity that swears by Snyder’s program. Channing Tatum, Hillary Duff, Kerry Washington, and many more also love Snyder’s holistic approach to beauty and wellness. “With Kimberly Snyder’s guidance, I have changed my nutritional health forever,” says Reese Witherspoon. “As a result, I have more energy, better skin, and better overall health.” So we don’t recommend her to those who aren’t ready to get healthy.
