  • Chris Pratt traveled to Iceland to film on a never before shot-on glacier while working on the movie "The Tomorrow War."

  • During his appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday, the 40-year-old actor said that a "fully preserved" couple, who had fallen into one of the glacier's fissures, had been discovered only weeks before he arrived.

  • "They had been there for over 80 years, and sadly, they didn't make it. They were fully preserved in their glacier hiking clothes from 1930 or 1940. They had their supplies and rations. They were lovers and they fell down in a hole and just went missing," Pratt said.

  • Local Icelandic reporters said there was no evidence that this happened and local police couldn't confirm the story, either.

Chris Pratt and the rest of the "The Tomorrow War" cast and crew traveled to Iceland in the middle of winter to shoot on a glacier called Skálafellsjökull that had never been filmed on before.

But during his appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday, the 40-year-old claimed that someone had discovered a "fully preserved" couple on the site only weeks before he summited the glacier for the first time.

Pratt said that the two individuals had gone missing over 80 years ago after falling into one of the glacier's fissures.

"They had been there for over 80 years, and sadly, they didn't make it. They were fully preserved in their glacier hiking clothes from 1930 or 1940. They had their supplies and rations. They were lovers and they fell down in a hole and just went missing and just recently were found," Pratt said.

He added, "Isn't that wild? Thankfully, we got out and nobody fell in any holes — that we're reporting."

According to Icelandic reporter Ingunn Lára Kristjánsdóttir, there is no evidence that a couple was found on the glacier Skálafellsjökull, where Pratt was filming. In her reporting, she spoke with the chief of police in the South of Iceland and a police officer in the town of Höfn, where the crew stayed during filming. Both denied any knowledge with Pratt's version of events.

"I'm not familiar with a case like this but it's a good story," Oddur Árnason, chief of police in South of Iceland, told Kristjánsdóttir.

It's not uncommon for remains of hikers to be discovered on some of the world's deadliest mountains. In 2017, there was a couple found mummified in a glacier after missing for 75 years since 1942, but that was in the Swiss Alps. There have also been bodies discovered on Mexico's highest summit as well as famously on Mount Everest.

Some of the crew of "The Tomorrow War" shared behind-the-scenes photos from filming on social media. Pratt's stunt double, Chris Romrell, shared photos from his time on the glacier.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy" actor will star in the film alongside Yvonne Strahovski and J.K. Simmons, and Pratt is also serving as the film's executive producer, marking the first time that he's taken on a production role.

During an interview with Men's Journal, Pratt spoke about his newfound appreciation for behind-the-scenes jobs after working on "The Tomorrow War."

"Working on 'The Tomorrow War' is the first time I'm taking a producing role on one of my films. Being an actor, your day ends when they call wrap. But the day doesn't end for a producer. You have to be involved with budgets, creative, worry about meeting deadlines, and everything else," Pratt said.

He continued, "It's truly been such a rewarding opportunity to stretch out of my comfort zone to take on a larger leadership role and grow in learning a side of the business I haven't experienced before."

"The Tomorrow War" will hit theaters on December 25, 2020.
