Small Russian private aircraft en route from Thailand to Moscow crashes in Afghan mountains
A Russian Falcon 10 private jet en route to Moscow crashed in northeastern Afghanistan on Jan. 20 with six people on board, Russian propaganda outlet RIA Novosti reported.
Of the six people on board, two were Russian citizens. The plane belongs to the Russian company Athletic Group.

It was initially reported that the aircraft was flying from Gaya, India to Zhukovsky, Russia via Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Later, Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency clarified that the initial departure point was Thailand's U-Tapao airport.

According to Russian propaganda outlet TASS, early reports indicate that the cause of the accident could have been the failure of two of the plane's engines.
According to the Russian service of the BBC, the plane veered off course and crashed into a mountain in Zebak district, 30-40 kilometers from the border with Tajikistan. Before the crash, the pilot reported technical problems.
