Cate Blanchett Dresses Daughter in Boys’ Clothes for the Best Reason

Cate Blanchett wore edgy Louis Vuitton to the 2016 Tony Awards and flowery blue Giorgio Armani Privé to the 2016 Oscars. Suffice to say that she takes her style, if not herself, seriously.

But when it comes to her youngest child, daughter Edith, Blanchett is the epitome of informality. In fact, Edith wears the duds once donned by her three older brothers.

“Maybe it’s because I’ve had three boys. I wasn’t done having children. I kept all the boys’ clothes. She’s wearing the boys’ clothes. Once again, that’s how I grew up. I grew up just being. It doesn’t matter what she wears. It’s about who she is, not what she looks like,” the 47-year-old tells Yahoo Style.

Overall, Blanchett’s parenting philosophy is focused on being healthy from the inside out; healthy food and sunscreen are musts. And she doesn’t treat her daughter any differently than she does the older boys.

“I’m in it for long-haul health rather than quick fixes,” she says. “It’s about what people do, not what they say they’re going to do. As a parent, it’s what you do. How you physically set the example. I try to teach all my kids that this is not about looks, it’s about health.”
