The Duchess of Cambridge Has the Same $1,715 Dress in 2 Different Colors

The Duchess of Cambridge is known for shopping her own closet, wearing her favorite items time and time again. And Tuesday night was no exception — well, sort of.

At the Place2Be Wellbeing in Schools Awards in London, Kate Middleton stepped out in a black dress in a strikingly familiar silhouette. Why does it feel like fashion déjà vu? Well, the royal has actually worn the same tea-length dress from Preen already, just in a different color. During her tour of Canada in September, the duchess attended a black-tie reception in Victoria, B.C., wearing the piece, which features a draped bodice and full midi skirt, in red. She accessorized with a diamond maple leaf brooch.

For the $1,715 dress’s reappearance just two months later, the mother of two changed things up by opting for the off-the-shoulder number in black. She jazzed up the LBD (or MBD — midi black dress) with a $1,055 Temperley London belt with a crystal pendant and suede Prada pumps.
